Sources: Nats to name Davey Johnson manager
CHICAGO — The Washington Nationals will name Davey Johnson as their new manager, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Johnson, 68, will manage the team for the rest of the season and next season, subject to league approval.
Johnson, who is a special assistant with the Nationals, last managed in the big leagues in 2000 for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He won a World Series in 1986 as the manager of the New York Mets. An official announcement could come as early as Friday night.
